IMPORTANT NOTICE

These policies are just as important as the rules. You are expected to read and understand all the contents of this match publication.

01

CMP Range Access

CMP CARD REQUIRED

All competitors and spectators must have a current CMP card in their possession at all times while on CMP property. If you don't have one, or yours is expired, plan to get one as soon as you arrive — before checking in at the match registration desk.

CARD HOLDER PROVIDED

Everyone is given a holder for the card at registration. Your CMP card must be worn or readily available (may be clipped to your range bag) while on the competition or practice bays and is checked daily by staff. This is a requirement of the range.

02

Practice & Pre-Registration

PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED

If you plan to practice, you must pre-register and pay for practice via PractiScore. We will not accept payment for practice at the match — failure to handle this in advance will cause delays before you can practice.

PRACTICE BAYS

All 8 stages are set up for practice. Practice runs 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. We reserve the right to close practice bays early if needed. CMP card required to enter the practice bays.

COLD RANGE UNTIL 9:00 AM

Per the Alabama range protection act we are prohibited from shooting prior to 9:00 AM. Practice bays open Tuesday morning at 9:00.

03

Safety & Range Rules

COLD RANGE

All firearms on the range are to be unloaded and carried in a holster or case unless in a safety area, or at the specific command of a Range Officer on the line. There will be designated area(s) for function firing and firearms handling.

EYE & HEARING PROTECTION

All people on the range property must wear eye and hearing protection — no exceptions. Earplugs and safety glasses are available at the registration table if needed.

SAFETY AREAS

The range is equipped with safety areas to bag and holster guns, for dry fire practice and gun repair. No ammunition may be handled in any safety area.

04

Competition Rules

RULES

The match rules are found in the current edition of the SCSA Competition Rules — the March 2026 edition will be used for this event. See scsa.org/rules.

OBEY YOUR RO

Range Officers are here to assist you in completing a safe shooting contest. Please comply with their requests. Bring any issues to the attention of the Range Master.

SQUAD SCHEDULE

The shooting schedule will be adhered to. If a contestant arrives after their designated squad has concluded shooting, they will either fire the stage with the last squad of the day or be put with a later squad — at the discretion of Match Officials. A shooter may NOT reassign themselves to other squads of their choice.

DIVISIONS

All sixteen SCSA divisions are eligible for competition at this event. For division-specific requirements consult the SCSA rules.

05

Round Count & Preparedness

ROUND COUNT

Competitors may fire as many rounds as they deem necessary for each string of fire. There are a minimum of 195 shots fired across the eight stages.

PREPAREDNESS

Contestants are to go to the line prepared with the appropriate number of magazines or speed loaders and needed ammunition, so as not to cause unnecessary delay. A contestant may have an assistant to help them reload magazines if needed.

DISQUALIFICATION POLICY

Any competitor disqualified during the event will not be permitted to continue — including firearms scheduled for a later flight or the next day. Previously completed scores remain as scored, and the competitor remains eligible for awards and placement for those completed scores. Any remaining registered slots are forfeited to USPSA to be resold or reassigned.

06

Awards & Prizes

RECOGNITION

The 2026 SCSA World Speed Shooting Championship recognizes divisions and categories per SCSA Rules, Appendix A2. Per Appendix A2, divisions and classes must have 10 or more competitors, and categories must have 5 or more competitors (within each division), to be recognized. Only qualifying Division, Class, Category, and Special Awards will be presented.

AWARDS

Steel Master · Rifle Master · Rimfire Master · Division Champions · Division 2nd Place · Division 3rd Place · Class Winners · Category Winners.

CASH PRIZES

Cash prizes are awarded to Steel Master, Rifle Master, Rimfire Master, and Division Winners. Winners receive vouchers and tax forms, which are mailed to the address in their USPSA member profile.

PRIZE TABLES

Three separate prize tables: best centerfire pistol placement, best rimfire rifle or pistol placement, and best PCC placement — each walked by order of finish. Competitors may only walk for their highest finish in each of the three groups.

NEW · 2026 AWARDS DINNER

Dinner is free for registered participants of WSSC. All others there is a $25 charge. This can be paid at registration or at the dinner. Card payment only, no cash.

ALCOHOL · CASH BAR

No outside alcohol is allowed at the awards ceremony. There will be a cash bar provided.

07

Ammo Shipping

NO USPS — FEDERAL VIOLATION

Do not ship ammunition via the United States Postal Service. It is a violation of federal law and you will be liable for any legal issues. Ship by commercial carrier — UPS or FedEx — that will ship ammunition. Most UPS Stores and FedEx Office locations will not accept ammo: hand to a route driver, schedule a pickup, or use a depot/service center.

SHIPPING ADDRESS

[Your Name + USPSA Number] · C/O USPSA/WSSC · CMP Marksmanship Park · 4387 Turner Mill Road · Talladega, AL 36207. Mark "USPSA/WSSC" in big bold letters on the outside in at least 3 different locations, covered with clear tape. Also insert a card or paper inside the box with your contact info in case the outside is damaged in transit.

PACKAGING

Use a very sturdy box with lots of tape. Place ammo in plastic or cardboard boxes with separators designed to hold ammunition — do not ship loose. Add padding around the ammo boxes. Ground only with an ORM-D label per UPS/FedEx regulations. Ship in time to arrive before the match.

PICKUP

CMP staff collect shipments and store them until USPSA personnel are on site. USPSA distributes ammunition at or around registration — pick up during those windows whenever possible to avoid delays. You may be required to sign for any ammunition you pick up.

08

Vehicle & Parking

PARKING AREAS

Parking areas are clearly marked on the range map. Competitors may only park in the competitor areas — lock your car and take your valuables.

PRACTICE PARKING

Competitors using the practice range are permitted to drive and park in that area.

NOT ALLOWED

Competitors are not allowed to park across the bridge area or next to the bays.

GUN HANDLING IN PARKING AREAS IS PROHIBITED

Gun handling in the parking area is prohibited. Use designated safety areas only.

09

Spectators & Media

SPECTATORS

Everyone must wear eye protection while on the range; hearing protection is strongly suggested. Climbing on berms is not allowed. Children must be under the direct supervision of a parent. If you need eye protection, see a Range Master.

PHOTOGRAPHIC RELEASE

By entering or attending the Steel Challenge, each participant authorizes unconditional use of their likeness, name, and match results for purposes of advertising and promotion — without compensation, consideration, notice, review, or consent.

TENTS & CANOPIES

The shaded holding area (canopy) at each stage is primarily for the match staff. Friends and family are allowed in this area only if not needed by staff or the on-deck competitor. Please respect the competitor's efforts by keeping the noise to a minimum — anyone disturbing a competitor's concentration will be asked to leave.

10

Additional Policies

ALCOHOL & DRUGS

Alcohol and recreational drugs may not be consumed anywhere on the range. Competitors violating this policy will be disqualified and asked to leave the range.

DRESS CODE

Practical shooting is a sport. The match director will be the final arbiter of dubious taste.

LCD TIME DISPLAYS

We plan to use LCD displays that show the time as recorded on the shot timer. In the event there is any discrepancy between the LCD time and the time recorded on the shot timer, the shot timer time takes precedence and is used for scoring.

LOST BRASS

All brass is donated to the staff.

REST ROOMS

Portable toilets are located conveniently around the range.

MATCH SHIRTS

Official match shirts can be ordered directly from Zero Sports Depot.
